During these uncertain times, I want to let you know what we will be doing in the coming months to help you and support you with your optical needs whilst restrictions on attending  the practice are in place.

Rest assured that should you need an Opticians appointment urgently as you have a problem with your eyes or vision – we will still be here to help you and re-assure you.  Although the practice door  will effectively be closed we will be available to offer you help and guidance over the phone and if you need a face to face appointment our Optometrist will be on-call to offer you an appointment.  This is very important service that we offer and by continuing we can reduce any additional pressure on hospitals and doctors’ surgeries whilst looking after your precious sight.

Should you need to attend the practice we are mindful to adhere to the strict safety and hygiene measures to keep you as safe as possible

If you are due for routine appointments then we would ask that you put this on hold until the crisis is over.  We will be writing to all our customers who are due or overdue for their usual appointments as soon as we resume normal practice.

If you wear contact lenses, be rest assured that we can still supply you. There is no evidence that contact lens wear puts you at greater risk of contracting Covid19 however, the usual hand hygiene is particularly important at this time.  We will not be required to come for your usual check-ups whilst we are in this state of emergency and will be happy to order your lenses and post them to you FREE of CHARGE.

If you break your specs or lose them we will be happy to supply a replacement pair or mend them. We are lucky enough to have our workshop on the premises and Chris, our technician will still be working albeit not every day.   Ring us and we can arrange to help you but please do not just turn up at the practice.

Our contact details remain the same and for all queries or orders then please ring

01256 703707  or email

To all our very precious customers and friends who have supported us now for over 30 years – we want you and your families to stay safe and well.

One final word of advice, as this virus enters through mucus membranes on the face, it is a good idea to regularly wash your specs with a little soap and warm water {not fairy liquid and not too hot}.

Take care and stay safe

Caroline and all the team at the Optician
